Dr. Dennis Ng, MD lectures at the Infection Control Nurses of Connecticut Educational Meeting

Dr. Dennis Ng, MD of Vohra Wound Physicians recently lectured at the Infection Control Nurses of Connecticut’s Statewide Educational Meeting. The event was held at the Whitney Center in Hamden, CT.

“The presentation addressed the etiology of peripheral arterial disease in the elderly population,” Dr. Ng said. “I focused on traditional open surgical operations versus the minimally invasive endovascular catheter-based interventions.”

Infection control nurses typically serve dual roles as both the wound care nurse and infection control nurse in the skilled nursing facility.  For them, the topic was very pertinent and provided an excellent review of evidence-based wound care.

“The audience was very engaged, said Dr. Ng. “The interactive presentation generated many questions from the audience, along with a lively clinical dialogue.”

Some of the questions included the management of wounds secondary to calciphylaxis, post-op bypass graft re-stenosis, management of mixed arterio-venous ulcers, and criteria for proper use of compression in venous ulcers.
