West Broward Rehabilitation Receives Certification

Vohra Physician Dr. Gabriel Betancourt has been making weekly wound rounds at West Broward Rehabilitation for two year’s now. Every week since, Betancourt has seen improvement in the wound healing rates of the residents. The facility in Plantation, FL has now been certified as a Vohra Center of Excellence for Wound Management.

Dr. Betancourt said, “They currently have a hospitalization rate of less than 1%, related to the wounds. The wound care nurse changes the wounds every day, just like I order. It’s a team approach. The dietician, nutrition, physical therapy, occupational therapy, we all take care of these wounds. The CNA’s of course also. They help to make sure the patients are cleaned, that they’re turned every couple of hours. This team approach ensures that these wounds progress, that they heal properly.”

West Broward Administrator Jeremie Paritzky is proud of his wound care team. “Taking care of wound care patients sometimes is a challenge,” said Paritzky. “This award is a testament to the efforts that they put in every single day, 24/7. We thank Vohra for acknowledging our hard work. We appreciate working with Vohra and their physicians helping with these patients, and the challenging care that we have to provide.”

For Betancourt, it’s a continuing journey. “I’m very pleased that this facility has achieved this distinction of becoming a Vohra Center of Excellence. I hope that we can continue this partnership for many years to come.”
