Vohra Chief Medical Officer Presenting On Wound Care Treatment

Vohra Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shark Bird, M.D. is presenting the latest in wound care advancements to physician colleagues, skilled nursing facility medical directors and other clinicians at various events in October. His educational lecture is titled, “Navigating the Treacherous Waters of Wound Care.”

“At many of these conferences we get to educate other physicians, facility nurses, corporate nurses and facility administrators about wound care,” Bird says.

Dr. Bird will be speaking at Medical Directors Association Conferences in Florida, Virginia and North Carolina this month. His presentation includes specifics about wound care treatment options and dressing selections. But, one of the main messages he shares is the importance of team building when it comes to successful wound management.

“We realize that it’s not just a doctor that comes in and sees the patient and leaves,” Bird says. “It’s a physician that recognizes the importance of the CNA, the floor nurse, the wound care nurse and the director of nursing. Together as a team, they take care of the patients. That’s where the education comes in. We need to make sure that we’re all on the same page when it comes to diagnosing patient wounds.”

In Dr. Bird’s role with Vohra, he supervises more than 200 wound physicians. He’s actively involved in leading the Vohra clinical affairs department which is responsible for physician training, oversight and management. In addition, Dr. Bird is the lead educator for Vohra’s Wound Care Certification Course at https://cert.vohrawoundcare.com/

“We developed an education program for the nurses,” Bird says. “They get to learn the appropriate things they need to do with patients, to fully understand wound care. And, how to work together with our physicians to create a team to provide the best service possible to patients.”

Bird is a Certified Wound Specialist Physician (CWSP) from the American Board of Wound Management and a Certified Medical Director (CMD) from the American Medical Directors Association.

Vohra Wound Physicians is the Nation’s Largest Wound Care Physician Group, providing physician wound management services in more than 2,500 post-acute facilities in 27 states.
