Vohra Certifies Arch Plaza as a Center of Excellence for Wound Management

Arch Plaza Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in North Miami, FL has been certified as a Vohra Center of Excellence for Wound Management. The facility hosted a presentation ceremony this week. Representatives from Vohra Wound Physicians and the staff at Arch Plaza took part in the celebration.

Vohra physician Dr. Barbara Aguilar, M.D. has been treating patients with wounds at this facility for 6 years. She says she’s happy this facility has earned the honor.

“The program has been implemented very well,” Aguilar said. “All of the [wound care physician’s] recommendations have been done. Recommendations in every sense. The holistic way we treat patients at Vohra. Nutritional recommendations, repositioning of the patients and their dressings. And, all of their approaches are being accomplished in the correct way.”

Arch Plaza Director of Nursing Nick Pana, R.N. said his facility places a focus on wound care and that achieving this certification from Vohra Wound Physicians is meaningful.

Pana said, “People come here with wounds and they expect, and their family expects, that they go home with healed wounds. So, with the partnership with Vohra and the excellent wound care doctors, we’re so glad they’re here and they help heal the wounds in the facility. We end up with very good results.”

The criteria the facility needs to achieve in order to receive the certification from Vohra includes having a less than 1% wound-related hospitalization rate and having a Vohra Certified Wound Care Nurse on staff who participates in weekly wound rounds with a Vohra physician.
